NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FROM: SHERIFF JOHN JORDAN

DATE: September 1, 2010

On Monday August 30, 2010 Sheriff's Deputies and Agents with the newly formed Rural Crimes Task Force arrested Clyde W Satterfield Jr. 31 years of age of Perryville, Missouri.

He was arrested and charged with the Class B Felony of Stealing by Deceit for appropriating 30 head of cattle of a value of at least three thousand dollars from the Fruitland Livestock Sales Barn.

Satterfield appropriated the cattle with the purpose to deprive Fruitland Livestock Sales Barn of the cattle by using deceit and making false representations that he was purchasing the cattle for a Jack Meyer from Illinois knowing that was false and Jack Meyer did not exist and caused the Fruitland Livestock Sales Barn to rely on that information for payment of the cattle.

This investigation revealed Satterfield to be basically kiting cattle the way persons would kite a check in years past.

Satterfield was incarcerated in the Cape Girardeau County Justice Center in lieu of a $15,000 bond and has since posted bail.

The charge of an offense is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
